Another Mini Adventure continues
to drive Broughton forward
2007/08 was yet another fantastic season for Broughton Minis
with playing numbers up by some 40% on the previous year.
One of the highlights of the season had to
be the sight of around 110 Broughton, Trinity and Portobello children enjoying a
wonderful afternoon of rugby at Wardie.
Another was the Club funded trip to
Murrayfield to watch Scotland play France which, despite the result, was a great
experience for the kids.
The Players voted for their Player of the
Year at the end of season event.
P4/3 Lewis Ajodani – a marvellously
balanced, elusive runner and try scorer despite his small frame.
P5/6 Tom Adams - an outstanding player
with all round abilities and role model for all players – a future captain in
the making.
At the recent AGM, Head of Junior Rugby Richard Chalmers
outlined some of the key action areas for 2008/09 -

It
is the intention to run a P7 BATS side alongside our Minis

In line with SRU initiatives on Player development and a
recent Mini forum, Richard is planning to bring in competence based assessment
and development of players.
Richard paid tribute to the Parents who had
brought to the Club, some of the most well behaved children he has had the
privilege to Coach.
Speaking of Coaches, Richard thanked Alastair Strong, Kenny Williamson, Stephen Glancy & Paul Wild for their time,
effort and contribution over the past 12 months. Without their valuable
contribution the Minis would not be possible. If you would like to help
Coach the Minis, please contact Richard for further details.

Player
of the Year awards for 2006 - 07
The winners, as voted by the players are ;-
P6/5 Hannah Kurtz
P4/3 Alfie Skehel (a record winner three times in a row)
There was close competition from a number of players in an impressive season,
however Hannah and Alfie have been simply outstanding and fully deserved their
awards.

The

Ruairidh Bonner, who played his way through the age groups at Broughton

the Belgian Schools at under 16 level against a French Provincial
Schools side in November 2003. To complete a brilliant debut, Ruairidh
kicked his side to victory. Broughton Rugby Club is absolutely
delighted at this outstanding achievement. More on this story
