Tiger Tales
"Dancing in the Stands as the
Tigers Roar at Murrayfield"
Resplendent in our new strips, Captain Iain Dawson led his side down the famous
tunnel and onto the International pitch to the strains of Eye of the Tiger.
The P7/6 Tigers entertained
the crowd with some skilful play against our old sparring partners, Forrester.
It was a frantic five minutes in which both clubs rotated their players. Driven
on be some lubricated vocal club support, we took the game to Forrester.
Following some good close
support play by a number of players, Ben Muir drove over to score the only try
of the brief encounter. This provoked one of the biggest cheers of the evening.
Despite a very spirited comeback by Forrester, we tackled relentlessly and held
out for a
famous Tigers win at Murrayfield. The excitement had obviously got to the crowd
as Gillian Muir was spotted dancing in celebration in the stands.

Jack Skehel leads the way for Edinburgh
Jack, his mum & dad, Harry and Alfie were warmly welcomed at SRU
headquarters by Gunners representative, Paul Norris. Firstly is was the
presentation of
Jack's own Edinburgh strip to lead out the Gunners. After a tour of the tunnel area and pitch, Jack was introduced to the Edinburgh Coach and the Stadium
Commentator. As kick-off approached Jack changed into his impressive new strip and waited excitedly in the tunnel for the teams.
Todd Blackadder, the
Edinburgh and former All Blacks Captain, brought out his team and warmly
greeted our Jack. Todd added a great touch as he recalled Broughton Tigers
winning
the Tournament at Dunbar and presenting the gold medals to our players. The
cannon went off dramatically and Jack and Todd led the team onto the International pitch with a bit of passing. All too soon the teams were
starting to
line up and then, with a friendly pat on the head from Todd, Jack left the
pitch and the match got under way.
A very broad smile lit up Jack's face as he emerged from the pitch and
stayed with him for the rest of the evening. Certainly a great night to
cherish
along with a wonderful Edinburgh strip.
