Tiger Talk Junior Rugby Section
Review 2002
-2003
Another good and interesting
year for the Junior Rugby Section.
Entertaining
Points Primary age group bus trips to Haddington & Dunbar.
The improvised lyrics
educating us on what Yogi & Cindy bear have been up to echoing from the rear of
the bus.
High
Points exemplary behaviour and high standard of rugby produced by all
the Junior Section. The expansion of our coaching helper parents.
Age Groups :-
Under 16 - A
lot of effort put in by Martin Scott and Rab Wood. Unfortunately we did not have
enough players within the strict age criteria and we did not play in the
leagues.
However a lot of these
players actually played in the firsts and seconds this year and trained with the
senior club during the week.
Mini - We have
over 30 players on our books.
P7/S1 -
Tight on numbers and we were helped
on occasions by our good friends Dalkeith and Ross High to fulfil fixtures.
We had our first
International performers this year with Tom Mulligan, Iain Stewart, Kevin
Richardson & Rory Kirkwood representing Broughton in the half-time relay at
Murrayfield during the Scotland Italy Match
Tom Mulligan also acted as a
mascot at an Edinburgh match.
P5/4 - Another
outstanding season. Unlucky to be narrowly beaten by Boroughmuir. The highlight
has to be their performance at the Dunbar Tournament where they were one try
away from winning the Tournament. They did Broughton proud that day.
P5/4 -
We have a growing number below P5/4 some have
played in a combined team with Lasswade in tag rugby.
Where are we going from
here?
There a number of issues waiting for
information from SRU :
Coaching licence renewal
Disclosure Scotland Grant
Hutchison has now registered for a course at Murrayfield in September.
Player registration web
site was not working last season
Mini
From the P6 festival I
now have 20 children who have given me their names for next season including 12
girls.
I hope to run 2-3 teams and
keep this years P7 & S1s
Under 15s -
very important for our future
Martin & Rab have bridged
good links at Broughton school providing referee cover. They are working
towards running an under 15s side. We also have a lead to Craigroysten to
follow up.
I also plan to get more
coaches through Level 1 and foundation refereeing courses.
The future success is however
dependant on the help we can get from the existing coaches, parents and YOU I
need you to help even if its not all the time we need help to make this a
success
Thanks -
