The Battle of the BATS took place at
Wardie on Saturday 20th August and it proved to be an extremely worthwhile
exercise for players and coaches from all the Clubs.
With the Edinburgh Accies 1st
XV friendly at Murrayfield cancelled, it was an opportunity for Accies Coach Ian
Barnes to give his players match time. The final match between Accies &
BATS U/19's was not played as the Accies backroom staff decided that, with the season
starting next week, any injuries would be unwelcomed in a match, effectively
between their 1sts & 2nds.
Broughton won the bragging
rights in the final game, beating Trinity 17-07 with debut tries from Francois
the Fireman and Chris Kelly. The boot of guest player Paul Arnold took the
rest of the points for a Broughton side who have come together in the last 7
days!
