Broughton dusted off the cobwebs of being a victim of inactivity
from the previous week to record a 6 try Sunday stroll against a frustrating to
play against Dalkeith side at Wardie on Sunday.
The 36-5 scoreline, 3 tries each half from the home side, didn't
reflect the one-sided affair which was spoiled by the sweeping Wardie wind and
Dalkeith's determination to slow the ball at almost every opportunity.
Tries for the home side came from Duncan Nicolson, Mike MacLennan
& Stuart Thyne in the first half and Adam McFarlane, Melvin Hart & Hamish
Martineau in the second stanza. The visitor's consolation score came deep
into the second half but the result was never in doubt and a bonus try point was
secured.
Next week we travel to Alloa in Round 2 of the BT Bowl. It
has been a number of years since the two sides met and with our hosts riding on
the back of 3 wins in National League Division 5 Caledonia it will be a tough
task. The match, which is being played next Sunday to accommodate the
Scotland v Australia in Glasgow 24 hours earlier, will kick off at 1.30pm.
A bus will be leaving the club at 11.30am. All supporters welcome.
