West came out best
in the BT Cup R2 on Saturday at Wardie when Division 4 outfit Lenzie
edged out Broughton 20-36 to earn their chance of pulling out a big name
in the next round.
For Broughton, it
doesn't end there however as we go into the draw for the BT Bowl which may be an
easier path towards the latter stages.

With 0 from 4, Our 'one-legged' kicker had an off day!
Johnny Wells, Hamish
Martineau, Gareth Payne and Andy Dalgleish all scored tries, which on
another day would have at least secured a point, but in the Cup it all
counted for nowt!
General round the
field support play pulled the west coasters through but they were let of
the hook late on as a tremendous break up the hill on the right wing
left Paul Maddison & Hamish Martineau on a 2 on 2 break, with Maddison
opting to do a grubber kick for his support player to run onto, he
inadvertently dropped the ball and the referee decreed that Martineau
was also in an offside position and like Broughton's Cup hopes, the run
ended there. Lenzie, from the resultant penalty, worked their way
down the slope and went over for the final score of the day.
