A 4 try feast has not been something too familiar at Wardie over
the last few years, however, for the fourth week in a row Broughton crossed the
whitewash and notched up another valuable Bonus Point to stay 2 points clear at
the top of National League 5 (East).
Broughton took the match to the visitors, well aware that the we
could ill afford to let the opposition to take the lead as we have done so far
this season.
A bigger attendance than normal watched Broughton play up the
hill first half against the wind and the match should have been killed off in
the opening stanza as tries from Paul Hamer, Man of the Match Gareth Payne &
Melvin Hart seemed to put the match out of sight.
The Royal Infirmary felt that they had something to prove after
the early home scores and gave Broughton a taste of their own medicine (I'm
trying to keep the analagies to an absolute minimum here!) and responded with 2
tries to make it tightly poised at half-time.
The 2nd half wasn't pretty, the only highlight being Duncan
Nicolson showing great vision from a tap penalty to go through a gap to go in
unopposed under the posts for the Bonus Point winning 4th Try.
Final Score: Broughton 27-12 Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh
